I began performing Composition Quest in 2017, and consistently family’s favorite part was watching me draw the animals and other characters that would go into the song we were composing.

“Well…I guess that’s a show in its own right!” I thought.

The concept for Scribble was born. While the base “script” for the show has changed many times (what mediums are used, how many performers, etc), the constant has always been: Drawing on the spot from ideas the group comes up with, and jazz music helping to drive all the fun forward. Simple Magic. Big Impact!

Below you’ll see some videos from concept exploration. I kept the scale pretty small for this exploration, but the goal is larger “whiteboard” puppets that fit an immersive audience space of about 250.

Jazz stylings are still being explored (you’ll hear some Ultra Lounge in the background of some videos).

Also see the one pager describing the experience. As a non-verbal show, the piece is malleable to fit a wide range of ages.
